ending

I didnt know what to do or where to go. I decided to inspect my surrounding more, but quickly as the walls were closing in. I bent down and felt around the inside edges of the pit. My hands suddenly scraped against a rock jutting out of the wall. I decided it was my only chance, to hang on to the rock against the wall. Hopefully the walls would push back after they reached the center and I could climb back up. The walls were passing over me, the heat started to encase the entire pit and my plams started to sweat. As the walls reached the center they did not part and continue back to where they came, my biggest fear. My palms were completely covered in sweat now. Slipping, Slipping, Slipping, My hands let go of the rock and I fall, unable to understand any of my surrounding.

Mr. Poe all the way

Edgar Allen Poe's stories have always intrequed me. His word choice and creativness with his words is amazing, I like it how he had the ability to make someone sit there and try to figure out what a word, sentence, or even a whole story means. I don't think there is anyone on earth who actually knows the true meaning of every part of every one of Poe's stories

Poem reflection

I like "The First Snowfall" poem. The feeling around the poem was kind of dreary and dark but also had some light in away. The snow symbolizes death whitch made it kind of dark and gave it the romantic feeling. I do think it is kind of interesting how the snow symolizes such a dreary mood. I don't like snow very much because of the cold but it's interesting how it symbolizes bad things in some poems.

Connection to Nature

I decided to observe the leaves falling out of the trees. I thought this was kind of like human life.Every fall the leaves die and fall off trees, but every spring new leaves grow back. Kind of like how humans go through life and die bur for every one who dies new people are born. Also, during a leaf's life span it goes through many thing, nice days of sunshine, boring days of rain, and rough days with thunderstorm. That has a close connection to a humans life. We are born, live our life day to day, some are good, some are bad, and then we die.

Welch vs.McCarthy

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Po5GlFba5Yg

I think this video shows that the country did not like or agree with what McCarthy was doing. I think most people probably shared the same views as Welch, but were not able to outsmart McCarthy. He used tricks and scemes to work his way through his hears. He was such a good talker and overpowering figure that no one would stand up to him in and egually overpowering way. Yes, people stood up to him, but no one really did it in the right way, until Welch. Welch undermineded him and made case rest on what he said, not McCarthy. He spoke over McCarthy and did not back down to McCarthys interuptions and accuasations like others before him.

Crucible Reflection

Act I of the Crucible was very interesting. There was a lot of naming of names, lying, prejudice, and things being blown out of proportion. The lying and the naming of names went hand in hand. Abagail was never willing to give the whole truth about the whole night but was completely willing to say Tituba made her drink the blood, dance, and do all sorts of weird things. She also vigorously threatened the girls to lie. When Tituba was named there was no questioning before she got beat, she was beaten and then questioned. The fact she was black, foreign, a servant, and named by a well-known white girl caused quick assumptions to be made about her. The whole situation was pretty much blown up. It got way bigger then it should have been. But, I guess with the Puritan rules and way of life, things tend to get blown up.

Observation

Today while sitting at the computer thinking about what to write I noticed a flock of birds doing what looked like their journey south. The ways it which birds work together on their long, stressful journey intrigues me. I find it amazing how the V formation is actually all about working together. The front bird leads the way working the hardest while the next birds give encouragement to the front bird and the birds in the way back rest, having already taken the lead. I think this is the way God intended humans to work, all as one. Someone to take the lead and work with all there heart, but soon to be relieved. A support group to help and keep the leaders going in a times of hardship. Humans can learn many things from nature. The ways in which birds work on their journey south could reshape the way humans work for the better.

Squanto

Squanto was a Patuxet indian, residing in what is today, Plymouth. The first history of Squanto starts in 1614, when englishman Thomas Hunt kidnapped him and other natives in an attempt to sell them to Spain. When some local friars discovered Hunt's plan they took the native americans and tried to teach them the Christian faith. Squanto was able to convince the friars to let him leave for England. He spent some time working for John Slaney, who was the treasure of the Newfoundland Company. Working under Slaney help Squanto learn the English language. He was sent to Newfoundland as an interpreter for the company. While there he met Captian Thomas Dermer, who wanted to travel again to New England and use Squanto as an interpreter and peacemaker with the hostile indians in the area who were angry over the kidnappings in 1614. In 1619 they set off for New England, but they discoverd Squanto's entire tribe wiped out by a disease. Squanto then settled with the Massasoit and his brother Quadequina. Dermer was eventually take captive by the hostile indians but was released because of negotiations by Squanto. Dermer then traveled south to Jamestown but was captured again and died from injuries. in 1620 the Mayflower landed in New England and the pilgrims settled on the deserted  Patuxet land. Squanto soon brought Massasoit and Quadequina to the pilgrims and they were able to negotiate a peace treatie. From the point on Squanto basically became part of the colony as a translater and guide for Plymoth. The power had a negative affect on Squanto, though. He became distrusted by the pilgrims and other tribes in the area because of his dealings. After trying to repair the relationships he fell very ill and died in 1622.

Jamestown's relationship with the native americans

I think, this picture shows the turning point in the Jamestown's relaitionship with the native americans. It depicts when Pocahontas saved John Smith from being executed. Before this there was a lot of fighting and death between the two groups. Jamestown was on the verge of dying out and the native americans weren't helping. Forced to find help Smith sought out the Native's. After spending  time with them he was suddenly taken down to be executed. Before he could be killed Pocahontas jumped in to stop the killing. After seeing his daughter's actions Chief Powhatan adopted Smith as a son. The native americans were now willing to trade and help supply the settlers with food. The food given was carefully rationed but without it Jamestown probably wouldn't have survived. The fact that before they recieved aid from the natives the settlement was about to be destroyed shows that help from the indians was one of the main reasons Jamestown survived. Without the natives americans accepting the Europeans at Jamestown, America would not be the same today.

Native American video

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ug2TrGD7INY

I think this video shows a lot of aspects of the Native Americans. It shows their clothing, jewlery, body paint and music. I like how wild and colorful the clothing is. All of the clothing in the video is unique a just like the Native Americans. The big jwelery and paint on their faces is also pretty cool. It gives them an exotic look. I think the music is very tribal and it makes me think of nature. Nature is a very important to the Native Americans and you can see some part of nature in every part of their life. The clothing makes me think of birds and other bright animals, the jewlery reminds me of stones and rocks, the paint reminds me of the earth, and the music just makes me think nature as a whole.

I also like the way native americans express themselves. They have dances that also seem to be like plays. They act out things in nature and their lives. A lot of the things native americans do are definitely not normal, but I think thats cool. They are completely different then other people in a lot of ways. They value nature a lot higher then most and they also like to show off their values and what they believe in.

Native Americans are unique and I like that and think it makes them an interesting group of people.
